Going home - what a bittersweet time! The thought of "now what?!" For those of you readers that have had a baby, you know what I mean or maybe you don't and felt strongly one way or the other. For us, it was bittersweet because in the hospital, there is always "back-up" if you need it, a nursery to send the baby to, nurses to ask questions, someone to give me meds on a schedule, helping me breast feed, etc. Going home was a stressful time for us. Not really sure why... maybe it's because Riggs screamed (for the first time that I heard) getting into his car seat. Or maybe it's because the discharge process was overwhelming! There were my orders - take this medicine, use this cream, don't lift more than 10 lbs, here's your follow up appointment, and on and on and then there was Riggs' orders - here's his pediatrician appointment, call if he's jaundice, call if he gets a fever, here's how you clean his umbilical cord, here's how to buckle the car seat and more- wow! On the other hand, I was ready for my bed, my shower, home-cooked food (thanks to Mom & Dad and many, many others) and just being in the comfort of your own home. This was a lot to take in for 2 already overwhelmed parents.
Well here's a recap in pictures of the Going Home Day's adventures:
