6 Years of Marriage Bliss!

Happy Anniversary, Watson!
Hard to believe it's been 6 years since we tied the knot, huh?! Watson Leonard is the best thing that has ever happened to me :)
We spent our day reminiscing about anniversary trips over the last couple of years, bringing up funny parts about our wedding day and wishing we were leaving for St. Lucia again...  This is after we got up at 5 a.m. thanks to a very special little boy.  Ahh, how things have changed for us.  We were even too exhausted to buy each other gifts or cards. Ha  Watson knows that lack of a card/gifts doesn't upset me though. He did sneak and send me this beautiful bouquet of flowers on Friday!

Can't believe how much we have aged already!!  We looked so young, well I guess we were.

Here's to many, many more years of "marriage bliss'!

4 months

4 Months
Stats:
Weight: 13.2 lbs
Height:  25 in

From 3 months until now at 4 months, Riggs just continues to change!  He is so. much. fun!  He's continuing to talk, smile and is starting to laugh now, which of course we love.  His head is getting very big compared to his body, which makes for a very bobbly little boy.  Also, he's loosing his dark hair but only on top. He still has long, thick hair in the back which is strange because usually the opposite happens... hmm.  I guess time will tell!
During play time at home, an activity mat as always kept him very entertained up until now.  He pretty much thinks it's boring and will stick his lower lip out when we lay him down on it.  He would much rather sit up or lay on his stomach.  So, that's what he does!
As for eating, he still continues to have my appetite unfortunately.  He would eat 24/7 if you'd let him!  His teacher says he has a "hollow leg" and that pretty much explains it. Ha
Still sleeping pretty well at night - thank goodness!  Goes to bed anywhere from 7-7:45 and sleeps until about 4 or 5, eats, then sleeps until about 6 or 7.  Can't complain.  Going to bed later does not make him sleep later in the morning; just makes him grumpier at night! He's still not a great napper but is napping in his crib. Yay!  Usually takes about four, 40 minutes naps when he's home with me.  Daycare is a different story.... maybe 1.5 hrs. total. Arg.
With getting "older" comes the not so fun stuff like teething, getting sick and stranger anxiety.  Thus far, he's just drooling like crazy and chewing on his hands but no tooth sighting yet.  This past week he had his first illness and it hurt us more than him I believe.  Poor guy had to have breathing treatments but he took them like a champ and is on the mend!  As for the stranger anxiety, the teachers at school brought this to our attention just this week. So if you meet Riggs or see him and he cries, well you know why.  Let's hope this doesn't last long :/

Firsts:
....time sitting in Bumbo seat
....art project at school (hand and foot prints in paint)
....time watching TV
....using "lovie"(likes for it to cover his face)
....rolling to other side
....kicks with both of his feet and lifts hips
....time being sick
....using jumperoo thing.  Loves it!  He'll really like it when he can touch the floor.

Loves:
....bath time!  starting to kick & splash :)
....chewing on his hands, or anyone else's for that matter
....being outside
....eating!!

I've survived my first month back to work!  Yay!!  It's actually gone by very, very fast.  It has been a great mix of getting out of the house to work and still having time during the week with my boy.

Call us crazy but Watson and I have planned a trip.  Eeek!  Mom and Dad are keeping Riggs while we go out of town for a long weekend in October.  So for that stranger anxiety.... see why I'm nervous?

As I'm going through pictures, I seem to always be on the other side of the camera.  I've got to do better!
Enjoy!

3 Months

3 Months

No doctor appointment this month so I'm unsure of the "Stats".  However, I know he's grown because clothes are getting smaller and smaller and he is much heavier to carry!
Stats:
Weight: ?
Height: ?

From 2 months until now at 3 months, Riggs' personality and development have changed so much!!  He's getting so much easier - he doesn't cry much at all unless he's tired.  Of course crying is his only means of communication, besides smiling of course.  Think about how much we could cry if that's the only way we could communicate!!  Anyway, when he does cry, we know how to distinguish hunger vs. sleep cries.  Still sleeping about 7-8 hrs at a time during the night, eats, then sleeps about 2-3 more.  Yay!!  He smiles A LOT - especially after eating, when he's playing and after a good nights sleep :)  Lots of "talking" as well.  I just love his little voice.  (mental note: record it)  He's also very alert, follows our every move and listens intently like he completely understands everything we're saying.  Ha!  He has also discovered his hands, well he loves to put them in his mouth and suck on them and is starting to swat at things.  Can't believe how fast he is growing up!

Firsts:
....family vacation to Highlands, NC with the Leonard family
....trip out of state
....time sleeping in his own bed
....rolled over!  Watson saw it first.  Yes, I was sad because I was at home eating lunch.  However, I captured a video later that afternoon (see below)
....time meeting Uncle Jason and Cousin Katie
....time meeting lots of high school and college friends
....moved to Size 1 diapers
....time to daycare :( We are calling it "school" because after all he is learning, right?

So of course as he is developing this great personality, I returned to work this week.  Trying not to cry as I type this.... I thought this day was so far away but suddenly it's here.  Mixed emotions about the situation - ready to have some sort of routine again but not ready for the work load, leaving Riggs and balancing work and family time.
On the bright side, the place we are taking him is wonderful!  There are only 8 kids in the class and 3 teachers - so lots of hands.  He is in there with a couple of boys that are within a few weeks of age, along with some others that are a couple months older.  Probably will be the same kids that he goes to Kindergarten with - small town ya know!  It will be great for him to have social interaction with other kids/adults, get exposed to some nasty germs (I say this now) and have teachers that know exactly how to "teach" him on a developmentally appropriate level.  Even though I have a Child Development major, some things have abandoned my brain!!!
On another bright side, I'll only be working Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays for now so Mondays and Fridays are Mommy and Riggs time!

Now to the fun part - pictures! Bear with me.... I take a lot of pictures. I just think he's too cute not to post them, plus there are a lot of people that don't seem him often so the more pictures the better!

this face cracks me up!
"ahh, found my hand"

Chillin' in between sticker change
Notice the scratch between his eyes.  That would be his first "battle scar" from daycare.  We don't know if he scratched himself or one of the older kids was trying to play with him.  Won't be the last wound he gets!

"Good Morning Daddy"

As you can see, our life consists of Riggs.  Therefore, my posts are monthly and consist of Riggs.  I wish I had time to post more often.  Oh well, I'll be able to one day.

Until next month....
