and Baby Leonard is......

a BOY!!!!!

Riggs Family "Gender Reveal"
Since we were not able to tell all of our family members, in person, that we are expecting, we wanted to do something fun to tell them the gender of our baby.  I know the anticipation stunk but it was  fun for us!

Dad unwrapping the first box
then Kristin
then my Great Uncle, Larry
Grandaddy Larry was next
then my Great Aunt, Darlene
then Clint
and finally, Mom with "BOY!"
Team Pink (those that thought we were having a girl)
Team Blue (those that were right - hehe!)

Leonard Family "Gender Reveal"

All of the girls teamed up to open each box together
Funny that they were all wearing pink!

Happy Grandfather!

20 weeks - 1/2 way there!

20 weeks

Total weight gain/loss?  10 lbs. gained - don't know how much longer I'll report this ;)
Maternity clothes? sometimes
Stretch marks? thankfully no!
Sleep? It's getting better
Best moment of the past few weeks? purchasing nursery furniture - lamp, dresser, bedside table and table/hutch (aka changing table).  We decided to go with a more antique, vintage, eclectic look vs. manufactured furniture.  So needless to say most of these purchases are going to need to be refinished and or painted.  Will post before and after pictures later.
Miss anything? my waistline
Movement? maybe - not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling!
Food cravings?  spicy foods, oranges
Anything make you queasy or sick?  the Arby's reuben sandwich commercials - ugh!; chili
Symptoms:  foot and leg cramps; itchy stomach
Have you started to show yet? yes
Gender prediction? still predicting boy and Watson's predicting girl.  Will announce in next post after our gender reveal parties with our families.  Stay tuned to see who is right!!
Belly button, in or out? in
Wedding rings, on or off? on
Happy or Moody? Happy!
Looking forward to? Gender reveal parties with our families!

A few of my favorite things:

So my dear friend Katherine started blogging a couple of months ago and I must say, her posts are quite entertaining!  One of her most recent posts was her "List of Favorites", which I believe she obtained the idea from someone else.  Anyway, I thought this was a great idea so here are a few of my favorite things as of late!

  1. Philosophy's Hope in A Jar - I know this has been around FOREVER and I've always known it's been out there!  However, I just discovered it!  Since I became pregnant my face has broken out worse than a middle schoolers - ugh.  With pregnancy comes all of the things to avoid, including any face medicine, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, etc (which I'm desperately needing....or did).  So I decided to give this moisturizer a try - Bingo, face has cleared dramatically!  Could be coincidence, my hormones leveling out - who knows.  I'm contributing it to Hope in A Jar!
  2. O.P.I. Over the Taupe nail polish - love it for the Fall/Winter!  You should check it out :)
  3. Cuties - little clementines that are soooo juicy and easy to peel.  Delicious!
  4. Cocoa Butter creme - yes, I said creme, not lotion.  My stomach has been itching like crazy due to stretching.  I try not to think about the stretching part.  The stuff is like Crisco - no joke!   Whatever it is, I lather it on twice a day so I don't claw my skin off and it works.
  5. Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors "A Neighborly Christmas" album - love them!  Ellie, Drew Holcomb's wife, and I were Tri-delts at UT together and her talented self, along with her husband, have become very successful (no surprise there)!  Definitely should check them out on iTunes
  6. Belly Band - this great invention allows me to wear my regular pants instead of making the conversion to those oh-so-lovely-maternity pants.  Not sure how much longer this device will suffice!
  7. Greeneville Antique Market - this is a great find!  They are located on Depot St. downtown Greeneville.  I've been in there a couple of times before but didn't see much.  That was until Mom and Dad came up to visit a couple of months ago and Mom loves antique stores so off we go!  At this visit, I eyed a table and hutch that I thought would be perfect for a changing table but I was newly pregnant and hadn't really started nursery furniture shopping yet.  Sooo I thought about it, went furniture shopping and I kept coming back to this piece in my mind.  Needless to say, we went back to purchase it a couple of weeks ago and while there found a bedside table along with an antique dresser!   Lots of treasures in this place :)
  8. Fresh Market's Cinnamon & Hazelnut coffee - decaf of course.  Very festive and makes your house smell great!
Stay tuned for more of my favorites...

'tis the season

Our Christmas season started out with a little Black Friday, turned Saturday, holiday shopping in Atlanta. We were able to score a lot of good deals but unfortunately did not check everything off the list.

Dinner in Atlanta

Once we got home, it was time to put the tree up!  I'm a big believer of waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate.... like the Friday or Saturday afterwards.  Ha!

If you're wondering where our cards are this year... well, here they are just waiting on the pictures to arrive!   You may get them by New Year's.

16 weeks

Where oh where has time gone?! Can't believe I'm already 4 months along. Over the past few days I've "popped"!

Total weight gain/loss? about 5 pounds gained!
Maternity clothes? almost
Stretch marks? nope
Sleep? getting better
Best moment of the past few weeks? receiving lots of useful advice regarding furniture, baby gear, bottles, diapers, etc from friends & co-workers who've recently had babies. We have a starting point - yay!
Miss anything? jogging - technically I can but 1) I'm too out of shape now so walking will have to suffice and 2) I'd have to pee too often
Movement? not yet
Food cravings? fruit, mainly apples & oranges, eggs
Anything make you queasy or sick? no :)
Symptoms: round ligament stretching/spasms, sciatic nerve pain, stuffy nose
Have you started to show yet? a little!
Gender prediction? boy
Belly button, in or out? in
Wedding rings, on or off? on
Happy or Moody? happy! 2nd Trimester is all it's cracked up to be! I've started feeling more like myself.
Looking forward to? finding out the GENDER!! As well as a shopping trip to Atlanta (thanks to Watson for making it happen)!
